Level 3 Award in Education & Training
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training has now replaced the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training course (AET) can create a path to a rewarding career in teaching. It is ideal for anyone who needs to either understand the basics of training practice, or wants to refine their training techniques.
This is an entry level teaching course that is fully accredited and recognised as a valid teaching qualification in the UK.
This is up to you and the time you have to give to your studies. You have up to a year to complete the course but can finish sooner if you prefer. Most students take between 3 months and a year to complete.

You will be allocated a group of peers and dates, time and location will be arranged to suit all.
What is the cost of the Qualification?
he Award in Education and Training costs £350.
Will I have to take an exam?
No, with the qualification being work based and taught based, all of the qualification will be completed through course work and observations done by your assessor.
What support will I receive?
You will receive regular taught sessions from your teacher and the option to have additional support sessions to ensure that the work is being done and to provide some advice on anything you may be unsure about.
What are the hours?
You will be required to attend taught sessions set by your teacher which will normally be weekly 3 hour sessions, the guided learning hours to achieve your qualification are 48 – 61 hours which will be obtained during working sessions, taught based sessions and personal study time.
What is a level 3 Award in Education and Training Qualification?
An Award in Education and Training Qualification consists of a combination of taught based and work based sessions. The qualification requires the development of underpinning knowledge (theory) and observation in the workplace to demonstrate competence. It is nationally recognised by employers and educational providers, this qualification will help give you the skills and knowledge to help you develop your teaching skills.
How long does it last?
The qualification can be tailored to individual needs from 3 months to 1 year.
